Southwest ISD, Effective February 2, 2008 in accordance with local, county and State regulations the Southwest ISD Police Department is now empowered to arrest and cite individuals.

Phase 1 of Safety and Security to Begin February 2, 2009 |
Effective February 2, 2009, in accordance with local, county and state law and Southwest Independent School District Policy, the Police Department will be empowered to arrest and cite individuals in an effort to increase the safety of all students. Southwest ISD police officers are fully licensed peace officers with the same authority as San Antonio Police Department officers and Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies. |

Everyone who attends, is employed by, or who conducts business with the Southwest Independent School District and its properties or who are visiting within the boundaries of Southwest Independent School District.

- An individual could face a possible ticket and fines for violations of the Penal Code, Education Code, and the Health and Safety Code.
- An individual could face possible charges filed with the Bexar County District Attorney’s office for violations of the Penal Code, Education Code, and the Health and Safety Code.
- An individual could face possible ARREST charges and be booked into Bexar County Jail or Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center for violations of the Penal Code, Education Code, and the Health and Safety Code.

Mission Statement |
It is the mission of the Southwest Independent School District Police Department to provide a safe and secure learning environment, which promotes an atmosphere of trust between the school environment and the police department. The officers of this department will serve the community by committing themselves to minimizing its school from violence, weapons, substance abuse, vandalism, and other hazards. The members of the police department will accomplish this in a manner consistent with fairness and equality for all.
