COVID-19 Overview

The novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, is a respiratory virus thought mainly to spread from person to person. It is spread between people who are in close contact with one another (within 6 feet) via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.  The droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

To ensure the health, safety and protection of SWISD students and staff as well as to remain in compliance with local and state requirements, SWISD has thoroughly planned for, and in some cases, altered operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While it is impossible to eliminate all risks, this document lists information on practices that will contribute to minimizing viral spread.  A district task force was created to address key areas that will be critical for a successful return of both students and staff.  The goal of the district task force is to provide effective operational plans for the following areas:  Safety & Health; Instructional Continuity; Business and Operations; Employment & Administration; and Communications.
