Pupil Services

The Department of Administration and Pupil Services (APS) is located in Building 200. This department supports students, parents, campuses, and the community in the areas of student behavior & discipline, attendance and truancy prevention, social and emotional learning, outreach, parent concerns, registration & enrollment, and student records.

As a department in Southwest Independent School District, Administration and Pupil Services will be a comprehensive and valuable resource for students, parents, staff, and community members who need a range of services and support.

Mission

The Department of Administration and Pupil Services will provide high-quality, purposeful, wraparound services to ensure all students' social, emotional, and academic success. This will be accomplished through a collaborative effort involving individuals, programs, and services designed to meet their unique needs. We will build productive, supportive relationships with all stakeholders to develop and sustain a culture of openness, trust, and responsiveness.

Executive Director of Pupil Services

Adrian Ramirez began his career in education in 1991 as a middle school English teacher at Corpus Christi ISD.  After three years, he began a new position with Windham School District and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, teaching adult offenders GED and college preparation classes for eight years.  He continued his work in the Texas Prison System as an intake counselor for the next three years.  In 2005, Adrian returned to the public school system as a high school assistant principal at Edgewood ISD in San Antonio.  He assumed the role of high school vice principal and as middle school principal in that same district before moving to Southwest Independent School District for the 2014-2015 school year.  At Southwest ISD, he served as principal of McAuliffe Middle School, Crossroads Disciplinary Alternative Education Placement Program, and Indian Creek Elementary School.  For the past 5 years, he has led his department as the Executive Director of Pupil Services.  Adrian earned an associate’s degree from Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas.  He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English from Texas A&M in Corpus Christi and a master’s degree in counseling from the same university.  He earned his principal certification from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  A proud father and grandfather, Adrian enjoys capturing special moments through his love of photography.
