Parent and Student Resources

SWISD follows the TEKS Resource System which provides the curriculum and assessment components aligned to the most current version of the TEKS.  Parents can access the TEKS Resource System through the guest login.
Clever
SWISD used Clever as our district's digital learning platform and as a single sign-on for content-specific programs and resources as well as those listed below.  Access is available at school and at home.

  • Grades K-5
    • Florida Center for Reading Research - This website includes reading support resources for parents, caregivers, and families including the FCRR’s YouTube Channel and additional reading activities to practice at home. 
    • Reading Rockets- Parent Engagement - Literacy articles and instructional videos for parents and caregivers. 
    • Growing Readers Newsletter - This newsletter for parents is found within the Reading Rockets website. Growing Readers provides monthly tips for raising strong readers and writers. Schools and PTAs can add these preformatted briefs to their parent newsletters. Growing Readers is also a great resource for libraries and community literacy organizations.
    • Lakeshore Writing Prompts - This website provides activities and resources including monthly writing prompt calendars parents can use to encourage writing at home.
    • Starfall - Free online learning program. The reading area includes phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight word activities. 
  • Grades 6-12
    • HMH Textbook - grades 6-8
    • Khan Academy - Free online video tutorials and practice for students which spans grades 2-12. A test prep for SAT, which can also be used for preparing for the PSAT, is available for free.

  • Illuminations - The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics provides free online resources which include lessons, (mobile) games, interactive activities, and brain teasers.
  • Desmos - Free online calculators (four-function, scientific, and graphing). The site also includes interactive activities.
  • Geogebra - Free interactive application for geometry, algebra, statistics, and calculus.

  • Flinn Scientific - Website with FREE science lab activities to do at home.
  • Learning Undefeated - STEM learning takes place in so many ways outside of the classroom. Whether you’re out of school on break or just looking for fun experiments to learn a little more about science, here are some great resources to explore. These short video experiments are designed for K-12 students to do at home, using household materials.
  • K-12 Physics/Chemistry Series - Interactive activities to help students and parents understand basic science concepts in physics and chemistry.
  • Gizmos - STEM learning tools that allow students to graph, measure, and compare through engaging simulations. 
  • Generation Genius - Website with standards-based videos, reading material, games, and DIY activities.
  • Science Tools Weebly - Weebly Website that has tools and resources for elementary and secondary Science
