Will our students still be taking the STAAR Test this year?

  • The Governor has canceled STAAR testing for April, May and June 2020.

  • STAAR will not be used to determine if a student advances to the next grade level. 

  • Students in 5th and 8th grade will be promoted based on Board policy for promotion.

  • Students taking a high school course that would have taken that STAAR EOC test for the first time in the Spring of 2020 will not be given that test if they earn credit for the course this school year.

  • Current High School students that earn all credits needed for graduation and only need to retake the STAAR test for graduation in 2020 will have an Individual Graduation Committee (IGC) that will determine if they meet graduation requirements.

  • Students in grades 9-11 who were needing to retake a STAAR EOC test for any subject will have the opportunity to test in December 2020.

Do students need to be present to receive meals at the distribution sites?

  • Students do not need to be present to pick-up meals at our distribution sites.

Where can I go to pick up breakfast or lunch for my students?

  • SWISD has several locations available to pick up breakfast/lunch, they include the following: SVE, SPE, BHE, BCE, HCE, MCE, SWE, KRE, ECE, & SHE.  Distribution times at these sites on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for meal pick-up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

  • Satellite sites are also available at Esperanza at Palo Alto Apartments, Canyon Crossing Park, MacDonna LaCoste Old Church, Indian Creek Elementary, Rosemont at Palo Alto, Rosemont at Miller's Pond, Crestwood Mobile Home Park, and Camino Creek Mobile Home Park from 11am -1pm

Is there any word on upcoming events, like Prom or Graduation?

  • SWISD continues to monitor this fluid situation, as of now all district and campus events are canceled through May 1st. We will continue to assess the situation and adjust as needed. No decision on 2020 Graduation has been made as of yet.
