Superintendent

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeanette Ball is a seasoned educational leader with many years of experience in different districts. She started her career at Southwest ISD as a teacher and Principal. She later took on various administrative roles, including Assistant Superintendent of Administration and Human Services, Executive Director of Employee and Student Services, and Director of Staff Development.
 
Dr. Ball's leadership style is characterized by her passion and persistence for equitable educational experiences for all students. During the pandemic, she successfully implemented a 1:1 technology device initiative for students and staff, ensuring that learning opportunities were not disrupted. She also prioritizes clear and transparent communication to empower student and staff voices and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
 
Dr. Ball strongly believes in the value of Fine Arts and its impact on student academic performance and achievement. She launched an effective Fine Arts Summer Program in Uvalde CISD that helped bring out the best in student potential. At the same time, she is passionate about Dual Language education and the opportunities it affords students in school, life, and as they prepare for their careers.
 
Dr. Ball's dedication and leadership have not gone unnoticed. She was named the 2021 Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) Superintendent of the Year. She represented ESC-20 at the state level competition at the Texas Association of School Administrators and Texas Association of School Boards (TASA/TASB) Conference in September 2021.
 
Outside of her profession, Dr. Ball enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Ball is honored to be back home at Southwest ISD and looks forward to building upon our commitment to providing the best education possible for our students.
