What is the School Health Advisory Council?
A School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group appointed by the school district to serve at the district level. Members of the SHAC come from different areas of the community and from within the school district. The majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the district. Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model
The education, public health, and school health sectors have each called for greater alignment, integration, and collaboration between education and health to improve and each child's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Public health and education serve the same children, often in the same settings. The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) focuses on the child to align the common goals of both sectors.

The WSCC model has ten components:
1. Physical education and physical activity.
2. Nutrition environment and services.
3. Health education.
4. Social and emotional school climate.
5. Physical environment.
6. Health services.
7. Counseling, psychological and social services.
8. Employee wellness.
9.Community involvement.
10. Family engagement.
