Carole Henry, a Chemistry Teacher and the GT Campus Coordinator at Southwest High School, was one of 20 teachers out of 2,000 applicants to receive a telescope for the Total Eclipse. Ms. Henry told us that the Chemistry Society, which she manages at Southwest High School, is overseen by the National Chemistry Society and chemists across the country. They reached out to Ms. Henry because Southwest was in the path of totality, which led to this unique experience. Devyn Champagne, the student Astronomy Expert in the Southwest Chemistry Society, said that she was extremely excited to be able to experience this moment with her fellow classmates and teacher. “It’s really exciting that we have been granted this opportunity.
