Advanced Placement Course Overview

Beginning in high school, students have the opportunity to take courses taught at the Advanced Placement level. These courses are taught by highly qualified high school teachers at a level that helps students experience what college is like, while receiving support that will help them develop strategies for independent success when they get to college.

Students are expected to take the AP exam at the end of each AP course which may earn them college credit. By doing college level work in high school, students can take risks, gain confidence and demonstrate that they were willing to challenge themselves in high school.
