Smooth Sailing to School: Sky Harbour Elementary Students Donate Paddle Boat to Philippines

Last year, third-grade students at Sky Harbour Elementary took their project-based learning project to new heights to solve a real-world problem. First, in Science class, third-grade students learned about density, force, and motion and used the knowledge to design and build a boat that could float in water and/or race. Then, the students learned about the Philippines' culture, community, and history in Social Studies class, where they learned that students in the Philippines have to wade or swim in the water to get to school. Following this, they created a plan for a Third Grade Market, where they showcased arts and crafts while putting their entrepreneurial skills to work. All their efforts were to raise money for the Yellow Boat Foundation, which has allowed the community of 𝘒𝘢𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘎𝘢𝘨𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘯 (KGMC) of Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, to receive a single paddle boat, named the "Dynamic Dolphin" after the Sky Harbour Mascot!
