The SWISD Pillar of the Community Award acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions to our district and its students. They have displayed commitment and dedication that has had a substantial impact on our community. This award also symbolizes their positive influence on the lives of many within SWISD.
This year, Mr. John Adams was named the SWISD Pillar of the Community. Mr. Adams has been a long-time resident of the Sky Harbor community. He has served in many roles that have had an essential impact on our community and students. He has served in the band booster club, participated as a member of the band booster scholarship committee, PTA President for Sky Harbour Elementary, and participated on the growth and planning committee. In these roles, he has contributed to awarding financial college assistance for our students, helped with the growth and expansion plans for our schools, and helped with the development of the Pearsall Dog Park.
He was nominated by a committee that wanted to highlight his ability to listen and contribute. He has a talent for understanding the needs and concerns of our community and its students, enabling him to effectively advocate for our students.
