Marti Smith, recognized as The 2024 Friend of Southwest ISD

A friend of Southwest ISD is someone who dedicates their time and efforts to supporting the district and its school community. 

Marti Smith has been recognized as this year’s Friend of Southwest ISD. She is a proud graduate of Southwest High School, Class of 1982. Ms. Smith has both a deep sense of pride and a connection to our district. She is a mother of three daughters, all of which are SWISD graduates. She has committed to serving our community as a member of the SWISD Education Foundation for the last 14 years. She is also an advocate for our special needs community. She has dedicated time to work with the Special Education Department’s art program over the years. Ms. Smith has also dedicated time to Morgan’s Wonderland, Any Baby Can, SWISD Special Olympics, and our annual Penguin Project. Additionally, Marti has also contributed as a coach in the Southwest Pony League and Southwest swim teams.

Her contributions have left a lasting impact on those initiatives for inclusivity and support for all students. She is a valued member of our community. Congratulations, Ms. Smith!
