For January, we will feature Board Trustee James Sullivan as we continue our monthly Board Spotlight Series. We will highlight his personal story and contributions to our community.
Known for his electrifying motivational pep talks to student-athletes before big games, James Sullivan brings the same passion and energy to his roles as a dedicated Board Trustee, family man, and community leader. Serving on the Southwest ISD Board of Trustees for 20 years, Mr. Sullivan currently holds the position of Assistant Secretary. First elected in 2005, he is a member of the Calendar Committee and has previously served on the Customer Service Committee and participated in the Delegate Assembly for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).
Although not a Southwest High School graduate, Mr. Sullivan’s deep connection and love for Southwest ISD stems from his wife Elaine’s family, whose involvement in the community spans more than six decades. In addition to his role of board trustee, he works as a territory manager for Golden West Oil Company and serves as President of the Atascosa Rural Water Supply Board.
Mr. Sullivan is also an active supporter of the community, sponsoring organizations such as the Southwest Pony League, the KAGlife Foundation, the Southwest Buyers’ Club, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. He is a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and remains dedicated to supporting the students, families, and staff of Southwest ISD.
