Summer vacations are typically a time for students to relax and recharge before the new school year. However, for eight CAST STEM seniors, it was an opportunity to dive into real-world work experience through the Advanced Technology Manufacturing Academy (ATMA) at Toyota San Antonio. During this paid summer internship, the students gained hands-on experience building Toyota Tundra and Sequoia vehicles. Some of their favorite moments included working in the paint shop, collaborating with mentors, and navigating the assembly plant floor alongside Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). A highlight for many was testing the trucks' buttons, switches, revving engines, and audio systems before they rolled off the assembly line.
The seniors walked away with valuable lessons that will enhance their classroom performance, including time management, memorization, and financial responsibility—skills essential for success both in education and future careers. If you are a Junior from CAST STEM, Southwest, and Southwest Legacy and are interested in the Toyota ATMA Internship, please contact your campus advisor for more details.
Snippets would like to extend a big thank you to the CAST STEM seniors for sharing their experiences with us. Congratulations on completing a successful summer internship at Toyota, and best of luck this year! Go Cobras!
