It’s National School Counselors Week 2025, and Snippets stopped by CAST STEM to visit with lead counselor Elisha Frausto. A proud SWISD alum, Mrs. Frausto credits her success as a counselor to her ability to relate to students in our close-knit community. With 15 years of experience as a high school counselor, she is grateful for the many opportunities SWISD provides to help students succeed.
The role of a school counselor has evolved significantly over the years. It’s no longer just about schedule changes—it’s about supporting students’ overall well-being, both in school and at home. That kind of care and guidance is essential in preparing students for their futures, whether they choose higher education, the workforce, or the military.
For Mrs. Frausto, one of the most rewarding parts of her job is when former students return to share their accomplishments. She takes great pride in seeing them thrive, especially those who, like her, are giving back to the community.
When she’s not busy helping students succeed, Mrs. Frausto enjoys watching sports, something she inherited from her father. She and her husband are devoted San Francisco 49ers fans, and she also proudly supports her hometown team, the San Antonio Spurs. Beyond professional sports, she loves attending SWISD events that showcase CAST STEM students in athletics and fine arts, including the recent Penguin Project production of Moana Jr.
Another one of her favorite pastimes? Driving her father’s classic 1976 Stingray Corvette—a fast and thrilling ride that she truly enjoys.
Snippets thanks Mrs. Frausto, for her dedication and work for our students as we celebrate with you during National School Counselors Week!
And as always—We Are Southwest!
