As the 2025 School Social Worker Week comes to a close, Snippets visited Spicewood Park Elementary to visit with Roberto Garcia, the on-campus social worker. The University of Texas at San Antonio alum has been practicing social work for three years, with this year being his first in a school setting.
Mr. Garcia's transition into the school role has been different, but he says he is thankful for all the support from the Spicewood Park staff. Mr. Garcia said he's felt welcomed into the SWISD family, a common sentiment shared by the SWISD community.
The good work culture and his peers motivate Mr. Garcia to do his best for the students no matter the size of the task. Stating he loves what he does. Outside of work, Garcia enjoys collecting Marvel superhero memorabilia, playing the guitar, and listening to music.
A newlywed, he cherishes time with his wife, whether watching movies or TV shows or indulging in sweet treats. His exciting year is about to get even better, as the Garcias are expecting their first child in 2025. Mr. Garcia was thankful for the appreciation all school social workers received this week.
Thank you, Mr. Garcia, for your dedication to the students and families of Spicewood Park Elementary. Snippets appreciated the opportunity to speak with you this week.
