On Paraprofesional Appreciation Day at Bob Hope, there is a team camaraderie like no other. The quartet team of paraprofessionals provides on-campus support for teachers and staff from the cafeteria to the classroom.
Meet Vannessa Fernandez, Roger Rodriguez, Donna Martinez, and Ashley Arguello, the paraprofessional team at Bob Hope. Together, the paraprofessional team supports Ms. Wehde’s Developmental Learning Classroom (DLC) on campus.
With 22 years of experience, six of them at Bob Hope, Donna Martinez approaches her role with love and dedication, treating each student as if they were her own. She praises the strong bond within the team, crediting Ms. Wehde, Bob Hope’s Teacher of the Year, for the supportive and family-like environment.
For Roger Rodriguez, being a paraprofessional is more than a job—it’s personal. A father to a child with special needs, Roger was inspired to join the field three and a half years ago. He finds joy in connecting with students and feels grateful for the opportunity to be part of their educational journey.
Vanessa Fernandez took a leap of faith when she transitioned from a 20-year career at H-E-B to become a paraprofessional. She describes the experience as rewarding, watching students grow and progress throughout the school year. Though the work isn’t always easy, Vanessa emphasizes how the support from the teacher, team, Bob Hope campus, and SWISD creates a true sense of family—one that allows them to provide the best care for their students.
Ashley Arguello’s passion for education was sparked by her third-grade teacher, leading her to a 15-year career as a paraprofessional, three of those at Bob Hope. She takes pride in the growth she witnesses in her students. The DLC team is a family that works together to support one another.
Exciting news for Ashley—she will be transitioning from a paraprofessional to a teacher next school year. Congratulations, Ashley!
The Bob Hope campus is fortunate to have a paraprofessional team that not only supports students but also uplifts one another. Their dedication, teamwork and love for their students make a lasting impact on the All-Stars community.
Happy Paraprofessional Appreciation Day!
