Southwest Legacy High School sophomore Ytzha Camacho Lopez is embracing every opportunity to shine in the performing arts. Last year, she took on the lead role in Southwest ISD’s Penguin Project production of Moana Jr., an experience she described as exciting and one that has opened doors to new opportunities in both acting and dance. Before her acting career at SW Legacy, she had a role in McAuliffe Middle School’s theater production of Rock of Ages. This school year, Ytzha is exploring those opportunities further through dance class and her latest project, Little Miss Perfect, where she shares a duet role alongside Terry, the character she portrays. Ytzha is excited about doing her best for the dance team’s winter performance and the Penguin Project. Ytzha tells us the balance between acting and dancing, noting that each discipline challenges her in different ways. Through it all, Ytzha credits her mother for encouraging her to stay focused and to work hard as she pursues her passions in her sophomore year. Beyond the stage, she shared that high school has been a time for making new friends and navigating new experiences since her role in Moana Jr. For now, her focus is on embracing every chance to perform and proudly represent her school’s performing arts program. Good Luck the rest of this semester and next. We can’t wait to see you and all your Titans fine arts performers shine as the curtain rises and the lights shine on you.
