Building the Next Generation of Dragon Drama

Recent Southwest High School graduate, Roan Markle, is spending part of his summer giving back through Dragon Drama’s Technical Theater Summer Program, helping middle and high school students discover the same passion that shaped his own journey.

After joining theater as a freshman, technical theater became more than an extracurricular activity, it became a creative outlet and a place where he found confidence, purpose, and community through the arts.

Speaking with Roan, he looked back on his experience in technical theater, saying, “I think I learned a lot about myself being here and found pieces of myself that I thought I wasn’t going to find again. I stuck with it because it got me through a lot of things, and since art’s my biggest passion, this was my main way of getting it out there. Painting and building all these things for the actors and the sets, it’s just what I’m meant for.”

We’re proud to see our graduates return to inspire the next generation of Dragon Drama students.
