SWISD Penguin Project Scholarship

The SWISD Penguin Project Scholarship was established to assist a graduating senior who plans to attend an institute of higher learning or vocational school of their choice. 

 

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY:

  • Graduating senior - Must be enrolled entire senior year.
  • Enrolled student at SWISD, who attends SWHS/SWLHS/CAST STEM.
  • Member of the SWISD Penguin Project
  • 90% attendance of all SWISD Penguin Project activities, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Applicant must provide proof of acceptance to higher education learning institution or vocational school upon notification. (If acceptance has not been received by the time of application for this scholarship, proof of submission of the college application will suffice pending notification of acceptance). 
 
SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES:

Potential applicants must submit all information (below) for consideration by using the online application process. Students must be a current senior at SWHS/SWLHS/CAST-STEM. Each applicant must provide:

1. General applicant information.
2. Short essays including the following information:
  • Description of personal achievements
  • Description of positive experience with the Penguin Project
  • Description of their plans for the future
 

APPLICATION REVIEW PROCESS:
All applications must be submitted by the designated deadline. Once submitted the applications will be reviewed by the SWISD Penguin Project leadership team to determine if all eligibility requirements have been met. Staff will then review the essay portion of the application to determine if students have met the parameters for this section. Once all students are identified the team will review and determine one set amount for each qualifying student based on the funds available.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD NOTIFICATION:
SWISD Penguin Project scholarship recipients will be notified in writing of the award with accompanying procedures to facilitate the scholarship process. Checks will be mailed directly to the college/ university or vocational school that the student will attend in the current academic year and will be allocated for tuition and/ or textbooks. Information will come directly from the SWISD Penguin Project on how to receive the monies for the scholarship.
 
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD AMOUNT:
Scholarship award amounts will be based on available funds for the current calendar year.
