Health Services Staff
I am a proud class of 1991 Southwest High School graduate and completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996 from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. After graduating from UIW, I began my nursing career as a pediatric primary care nurse. I have practiced in different areas of pediatric and public health/community nursing for over 25 years. Some additional nursing positions I have held are CPR, childbirth, and new parent educator. I was also an adjunct faculty at Galen College of Nursing, educating future nurses. For the last 20+ years of my career, I have been captivated by school nursing. I was a school nurse at NEISD and NISD and am now excited to serve SWISD, my childhood community, and my alma mater as the Director of Health Services. School nursing stole my heart in 2003, and I love the role I have had as a school nurse. I am glad I was called home to serve this great community. On a personal note, I am also the parent of three amazing adults who have made their momma proud by completing their baccalaureate degrees; my eldest daughter has a nursing degree, my youngest daughter has a communications degree, and my son has a degree in biochemistry. I love to spend time and travel to new places with my family whenever possible.
