Acting Superintendent Brandon Crisp was appointed to lead Southwest ISD in August 2026. A dedicated public educator for 28 years, he has spent 17 years serving the Southwest ISD community.
Mr. Crisp began his career in 1998 as a teacher and coach at Somerset ISD. He later served students at San Antonio ISD and Northside ISD before joining Southwest ISD as a teacher and coach in 2009.
In 2013, Mr. Crisp transitioned to district administration as Purchasing Coordinator. He went on to serve as Director of Operations, Planning and Policy; Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance; and, beginning in 2023, Deputy Superintendent. Throughout his tenure, he has provided leadership in finance, facilities, technology, transportation, child nutrition, purchasing, construction, strategic planning, and major capital and operational initiatives.
Mr. Crisp’s leadership philosophy reflects the principles of servant leadership. He leads by listening, building trust, supporting others, and placing the needs of students, employees, and families at the center of decision-making. His collaborative and service-focused approach has helped bring stakeholders together around the district’s long-term vision. Mr. Crisp also played an important role in the successful passage of Southwest ISD’s 2012, 2018 and 2023 bond programs, which provided critical investments in district facilities, infrastructure, and learning environments.
Mr. Crisp earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a master’s degree from Lamar University and his Superintendent Certificate from Texas A&M San Antonio. He and his wife are the proud parents of three sons, all Southwest ISD graduates. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, playing golf with his wife, and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
